Out and About in DC

Hey guys! What’s up?

Today we spent a nice time in Washington D.C. and visited the Air Force Memorial, Roosevelt Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Korean War Memorial, Vietnam Veterans' Memorial (also known as “The Wall”).

The weather was rainy and not as nice as yesterday. From the Jefferson memorial we had a nice view of the White House, but unfortunately the president wasn’t in town. We also saw the Washington Memorial. The whole trip was a really nice experience. From the beginning on to our lunchtime, a really nice guide showed us the region around Washington D.C. and Arlington! He was a hit for all the Germans, ‘cause he spoke German quite well.

He left us before lunch that we had at the Union Station…hmmm…good FOOD! The positive thing on the Union Station was that it is connected with a mall, so next to eating, we could go shopping.

Next stop – Congress.

We had a tour through the Congress. We saw a lot of statues of “famous” people but we only knew three out of one hundred.

The Library of Congress was next on the program. Time was limited because we only had like 10

minutes in the Library before it closed. We saw the Guttenberg Bible and the Bill of Rights.

Before we went back to the hotel we visited Hiroshima Memorial – Another war memorial.

We had some free time at the hotel to spend it however way we wanted to.

At 7:00pm we met up at hotel’s lobby well dressed and went to our dinner next door. We enter a quite fancy room and ate salad, chicken with mashed potatoes and a sundae. After the dinner every nation shared their culture with the others including singing the national anthems.

Afterwards we enjoyed spending free time with each other at the hotel (Hampton Inn) lobby which is by the way really nice. Now we are writing the blog very enthusiastically and enjoy it a lot . We hope you enjoy reading this blog as well.

Have a good night!
